The company recently announced the successor to the One. It is indeed called the OnePlus 2. And it has some big features coming.
The 2 will be released on the 27th July, but OnePlus has not kept all its latest features hidden. OnePlus has posted on social media that the phone will run the Snapdragon 810 processor, under-clocked to reduce the over-heating problem. Since OnePlus allows all sorts of customisation on its phones natively, I’m sure the under-clocked processor wouldn’t stand much of a problem for the heavy users. Plus, the 810 is a very powerful processor, so it really shouldn’t make a difference.
The next big addition to the 2 is the USB Type-C. By now, you should be familiar with the truly universal port that is taking over all electronic devices: Type-C is a new USB standard, a small reversible connector that can charge as well as transport data at USB 3.1 speeds. This will ensure that the 2 will accept most Type-C accessories, and that's a really good thing.
OnePlus wants to make the release of the 2 special. And hence, at 7 pm PT on 27th July, we will experience the world’s first product release in virtual reality! Yeah, get your Cardboards if you want to virtually attend the event. And for this reason, OnePlus has made its own version of the Google Cardboard - a better, stronger one that’ll fit large phones. Best of all, the OnePlus Cardboard will be sold of FREE (+ shipping), so that you don’t lose out on the VR experience.
The OnePlus Cardboard website proudly says, "This is not a product; it’s an initiative. We aren’t making any money by offering OnePlus Cardboard. In fact, we are losing money with each one. There will come a day in which we will be able to travel the world and experience amazing things without ever leaving the comfort of our homes. OnePlus Cardboard exists to drive this idea forward. "
