The last few days were pretty busy with small buzzes all over the place. This post is just an update to that.
1. Moto G Lollipop upgrade:
As Motorola promised, the moto g (both 1st and 2nd gen) is indeed one of the few phones outside the Nexus series to receive the lollipop upgrade (almost) first. The India update has recently rolled out, so if you haven’t already updated to the latest, head on to your system updates.
Process: Update all your apps in the Play Store. Then head on to the settings, scroll all the way down to “About phone”. In About phone, click on System Updates. After retrieving the information, follow the steps to load on the fresh new look to your phone.
Overall, the OS is pretty stable. There might be instances when the phone slows down, but after a few reboots, the phone works perfectly fine. Completely worth the upgrade.
2. The new Sonos visual:
When did company visuals make a big deal? Bruce Mau Design’s work for Sonos made this visual a really big deal.
And as you scroll this page, guess what, you see the logo pulsating. Its just a simple illusion, but is so innovatively stunning that it has captured the essence of the company's products.
Sonos is a leader in wireless speaker systems, mainly home audio. You can have a bunch of speakers, one in each room, connected to each other and to your gadgets and stream all the music you want to whichever speaker you want. Sonos is a premium brand, with speakers costing well over any average budget. Anyways, they at least got a catchy logo in place!
3. Xaiomi Redmi Note and Mi 4:
Xaiomi, the Chinese gaint, wants to catch up with all that has put Apple ahead in the competition. And yes, they have the budget pahblet: the Redmi Note. The Note is a well-speced phone, with a 1.7 Ghz processor, 2 GB RAM, a 720p 5.5” display and a 13 MP camera. Its not the best, but surely has very less competition at its whoppingly low price of Rs. 8999.
Xaiomi is also releasing its Mi 4, the successor to the super-successful Mi 3 at a price of 19,999. This phone again is the Xaiomi flagship, and runs the Snapdragon 801 chipset. Coming on 10th Feb via Flipkart.
4. Apple’s record profits:
Apple has broken all records ever made by a company with the highest profit in a quarter (Q1 2015) of a mind blowing $18.04 billion and a revenue of $74.6 billion. Now that is A LOT.
And iPhone sales hit records again, this quarter 74.5 million units sold. This makes 1 billion currently operating iOS devices, another record number. This quarter also showed the greatest number of Android users switching to the iPhone.
All that said, the big A has a lot lined up this year, beginning with the Apple Watch that will be up on sale in April.
That is it for the buzz roundup. I’ll soon get on more news on the HTC One M9 and Apple Watch rumours. Continue to share articles and keep liking! Keep Technonerding!
