Until now, the Model S P90D Ludicrous had reigned the title of the fastest accelerating Tesla, and it did 0-60mph in 2.8 seconds. Now, the P100D - with a 100 kWh battery and Ludicrous mode - does the same in 2.5 seconds. The only two cars that accelerate faster that the Model S P100D Ludicrous are the Ferrari La Ferrari and the Porsche 918 Spyder, but both these cars are ridiculously expensive, have 2 seats, and are limited edition. The P100D, well, is a 4 door sedan with enough space to seat 5 people comfortably!
The range has increased too: the Model S P100D does 315 miles on the EPA cycle on a single charge, and this means it is also the longest range electric car in the market.
And guess what, the Model X is also coming in a P100D Ludicrous version, and that SUV does 0-60mph in 2.9 seconds. That’s the fastest accelerating SUV in on earth! And the Model X P100D will do 289 miles on a single charge.
Yes, the P100D is an expensive car (or upgrade to your P90D), but the Model S is pretty much the perfect electric sedan. It looks amazing, has some of the most advanced technologies in any car (including “Autopilot”) and is fast, with a 155 mph top speed. With such less to complain, and with Tesla’s intentions to make the affordable Model 3, the investment is definitely worth it, if you have the money! [MKBHD bought it!]
