Smartwatches started off much as a gimmick, the wish to make a mobile phone on the wrist. They were never intended to work with the phone (because they were not-so-smart); instead they were replacements to the phone.
The first super-popular smart watch idea none other than the Pebble. The kicksarter project was pledged with over $10 million by more than 68,000 backers. With so much interest, the original Pebble smartwatch became one of the most sold smartwatches.
The Pebble Steel, a successor to the original Pebble came out at CES 2014. The first reaction form everyone was, "the Pebble has grown up!" From the plastic and resin build of the original Pebble to the stainless steel and gorilla glass on the steel made quiet a big deal. It was the first smartwatch which really looked like a "wearable" watch.
The Pebble Steel was a pricy alternative(not now, just read on) to the original pebble- a whole $100 more that the $150 original pebble (at $250). And I bought it.
So here is my review!
The watch is not very heavy on the hand, considering I have been wearing heavy ones like the Casio G Shock watch before. The design is considerably slim, and the watch suits both formal and informal clothing.
The plus point of all Pebble watches has been the out-of-the-modern 5 day battery life. Using the Bluetooth LE (low energy) Technology, there is no compromise on the battery life of the device. And if you don't use blutooth that often, expect a battery life of over a week. Outstanding!
Coming to the internals. The specs are unbelievably low:
All in all, its a well built smartwatch deserving to be the best of its category in the world. It now retails for only $199 and the original Pebble is priced at $99.
I do request everyone to check out their website: www.getpebble.com . Its super interesting!
