Detroit, Michigan, better known as the 'Silicon Valley' for vehicles, hosts an annual car show - more of a festival for vehicle enthusiasts. North American International Auto Show aka. NAIAS aka. Detroit Auto Show is provides a stage for a lot of new production and concepts cars and has a huge international fan following, thanks to the presence of companies from around the world.
The 2016 show floor has been open for about a week now, and thanks to the superpowers of the Internet, I’ve been able to experience it sitting here, at home, in India. And, as the title suggests, I’m putting down the best vehicles I’ve seen at NAIAS.
Volvo S90: The S90 is definitely no supercar, but it definitely is a showstopper. The ‘Thor-hammer’ headlamps give this sleek car a definitive Volvo styling. And this car is as much about technology as much about design and power. This is Volvo’s biggest step towards semi-autonomous cars, with its Pilot Assist technology that helps the car accelerate, break and steer at upto 80 mph.
Alright! Here are just few of the big-news-making cars from the Detroit Auto Show 2016. All these cars carry a particular design language and it is said that this design language will spread out to other cars by these companies in the near future. That said, a lot of these cars are still concepts and the chances of them coming into production as it is are very low. Also, I realise cars have a lot to catch up to when it comes to technology and autonomous driving, especially after what we saw at CES a few days ago.
That concludes part 1. I’ll publish the second part as early as possible - so make sure you follow me on Facebook and Twitter.
