The NAIAS (North American International Auto Show), popularly knows and the Detroit Auto Show has showcased some outstanding vehicle releases. This year too, the NAIAS 2015 was a blast: with awesome supercars and futuristic electrics. In fact, there was a trend… of almost all cars being electric, and even the best of supercars going hybrid (which is a good thing, according to me).
The biggest releases this year were form Ford and Acura, surprisingly. And what they had in their stable are the two great classics redefined. Yes, its the Ford GT and the Acura NSX.
The Ford GT is indeed a historic car. The 3rd edition of this beast was showcased at the show, and in all directions, its beastly. The most striking part, however, is the rear: the dual tailpipes combined with the exaggerated Ford GT look and scissor-wing doors looks staggering. And being a supercar, it has a whopping 600 horsepower twin turbo V6 EcoBoost engine. Add to it the active rear spoilers and super techy interiors and this car becomes the defining future supercar.
The NSX is a 550 horsepower hybrid. Unbelievably, the electric engine has come to supercar space. Apart form its complex engine technologies, the NSX has indeed dropped its classic style to the more meaner, beastly looks of the current car.
Both the above will be the costly “showy” future classic cars, anyway, they will be retaining their historic records.
Apart from these two cars, we saw the updated Porsche 911 Targa 4 and 4S, with really cool soft-tops. Ford also showcased its mean machine: the Shelby GT350R, making it the most powerful Mustang.
I'll continue writing bout the Detroit Auto show in the upcoming posts, with cars from VW, Chevy and Merc. Follow me on Facebook and twitter to stay up to date! Keep Technonerding!
