After a (very) long wait, the 4” iPhone is getting an upgrade. The iPhone SE will be a successor to the very popular iPhone 5S, bringing back the handy, edgy design of the 5S. But in the inside, the iPhone SE is more like the 6S - making it an extremely powerful phone at its size.
The iPhone SE packs in the Apple A9 chip that comes with the iPhone 6S. It promises 2x faster CPU performance and 3x faster GPU performance than the iPhone 5S. With the A9 comes the M9 motion co-processor to track your health data and enable features like “Hey Siri”. The SE also features Apple Pay support, and the latest Advanced LTE and WiFi chipsets for extremely high speed data transfers.
In the camera department, the iPhone SE is no slouch. The 12 MP camera with f/2.2 and focus pixels allows for 4K video recording and live photos. This, again, is straight from the iPhone 6S. The front camera is a 1.2 MP FaceTime HD camera. Apple also borrowed the Retina Flash technology, which makes the screen 3x bright to act as a forward facing flash, from the iPhone 6S. This makes the iPhone SE the best compact camera available in the market.
When it comes to design, Apple really just took the iPhone 5S body and engraved the Apple logo into it. The phone does come in Rose Gold this time around. The phone does look good though, undoubtedly, as the iPhone 5S design is considered to be one of the best designs.
The iPhone SE will launch on March 31st and will be available to pre-order in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, the UK, US Virgin Islands and the US beginning March 24. The SE is slated for an early April release in India, UAE and other European countries.
The 16 GB iPhone SE will retail at $399, and the 64 GB one at $499. That should reflect to a price of about Rs. 30,000 here in India.
