Electric vehicles just aren’t hitting it all.
Before Tesla came about, electric cars were like alien creatures- aliens to mankind - with their absurd designs and awful performances. Tesla really brought about a change in this market with the Tesla Roadster and then the Model S. Tesla has always been begging for competition, for Elon Musk is working hard to build a sustainable planet. But until now, we haven’t seen any comparable new cars. UNTIL NOW.
I believe this is the gem of this auto show. Porsche unveiled its Mission E electric vehicle at the Frankfurt Auto Show and it is a preview into the future of the company. This 4 seater electric gets its looks from the classic - the 911 - and yet is overhauled with an extremely futuristic design language. The LED headlamps, doors that open in opposite directions (like on a Rolls-Royce, where the back door swings the other way) and use of holographs in the “cockpit” all add to the design galore of this product.
The biggest innovation in this car is probably its 800 volt battery that charges upto 80% in just 15 minutes. That is a record in itself, but what’s more, this car will give you a driving range of 500 kilometres in one charge. And it charges via inductive charging: no need to plug in. How did Porsche manage to do this? I have no idea.
And adding to the astonishing facts - the dual motor setup generates a full 600 hp, throttling the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds. That is even faster than some of the 911s itself! It sure is an epic electric.
Instead of me rambling about this car, go check it out for yourself on their microsite. It is a must visit website (on your computer, not your phone, so take the pain to do it once. It is absolutely worth it.)
Tomorrow does not yet exist but our dreams do. So we get to work today, like always. Because “tomorrow“ will be what we make it. And if we can create the future in our heads, it will meet us halfway.
