Article 7: Cars!
In India, cool cars come in sight so very rarely. Its not the regular BMWs or Mercs or even the Jaguars I’m talking about, I’m talking about the hottest, fastest, most innovative and most fuel efficient cars from around the world.
There are a very few cars that have unique characteristics. Down below I’m listing the cars I look forward to see and drive, and will last long in future. These are the real supercars.
1. Tesla Model S
I already have a blog post on this beast. Its not a supercar by looks, but the technology used in it is simply mind blowing. Starting from the all electric engine, 4 wheel drive via 2 motors, to the 17” touch screen controller and inbuilt HSPA+ in the inside, this car is the definition of what automobile technology is about.
The car’s top end model, the P85D generates a whopping 691 horsepower, with 0-60mph in 4.2 seconds. The car’s batteries can be charged by a 110V output or by the more powerful Tesla Superchargers that gives it a 200 mile range in 30 minutes.
All in all, there is just no real competition to this car, except for a future Tesla.
2. BMW i8
The i8 is no normal car. It dazzles the mind just by design. Plus its a hybrid: a car that runs both fuel and electricity. The 3 cylinder engine along with the motor churns out a good 357 horsepower, taking the car from 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds. That’s sports car speed.
The interior is much like any premium BMW, with just a few added features. Its all blue, really, with the interior lighting. The killer design incorporates stunning doors that open cross (see in picture), and that is a total eye catcher. The i8 is a great performer- with sports car feel in an eco friendly package.
3. Mercedes-Benz S class
Sounds like a normal car? It isn’t. Though this one isn’t a hybrid, its on the list simply for the safety tech built into the car.
The car has multiple stereo sensors and radar technology. Its on-board computer calculates everything that is occurring around the car, from determining speeds of vehicles around, to scanning the surface to optimise suspension.
Merc has built into the car “PRESAFE” break assist, that incorporates pedestrian detection and collision avoidance systems. Brakes can be applied automatically by the computer to prevent damage. There is lane assist, that keeps the car in a single lane and helps the driver while overtaking. There is “Magic Body Control”, a unique blend of computing and mechanics that covers up the bumps on the road to keep the car as stable as possible.
This car is rated to be one of the best in the world: with the best blend of technology and pure luxury.
Those were the top 3. Other great cars include the Jaguar F-type, Merc AMG GT, Aston Martin DB9/DB10, new Range Rover Sport and the BMW Gina concept.
